On our last day in Spain, we were at the La Quinta Football Center for our final game. In two ninety-minute friendlies, we played Danish team Odense BK as we continue to prepare for the 2024 season.

Both games were losses for the Sounders, the first by a 3-0 margin and the second by a 2-1 margin. Seattle’s Raúl Ruidíaz scored a goal.

First Game: Josh Atencio, João Paulo, Cristian Roldan, Albert Rusnàk, Léo Chú, Jordan Morris; Cody Baker, Nathan, Xavier Arreaga, Jon Bell;

5′ Odense nearly misses a diving header after getting a cross in front of goal.

7′ Stefan Frei makes his first save of the game by grabbing a low shot.day.

10 The Sounders have not had much possession in the attacking half of the game as they have struggled to get comfortable.

11″ Cristian resists the urge to foul and gets a foul. As usual, he has excellent body control.

18″ After settling down, the team starts to play more via João Paulo’s middle.

23′ Odense’s shot ricocheting off the crossbar!

24′ Atencio gains a corner by sprinting to far field. Massive hustling action.

26″ Another Odense shot floats over the bar.

28″ Odense seemed to be on the verge of a lightning comeback, but Xavi makes a sliding tackle. Baker blocks the attempt at a rebound.

29′ Stefan Fei made a diving stop to prevent a scoring.

31″ Atencio is replaced by Snyder Brunell, who can leave the field on his own despite taking a blow.

35′ The sliding tackle by Jon Bell is called for a penalty.

36″Objective Odense. The photographer skillfully places the shot in the lower right corner.

39″ As Rusnák attempts to retaliate, he is tackled from behind.

45′ This one’s first half is coming to a conclusion.

46″ The half begins with Xavi trying a deep pass to Roldan, but the pass just goes past him.

47″ Morris earns a corner by flying out of the gate.

53′ Roldan finds Morris at the far post, but his header misses the mark by a whisker.

57″ Runsák’s follow-up is likewise saved after Morris’ close-range effort in front of goal is stopped.

Nathan scores a volley later in the minute (57′), and the goalieapplies pressure with fingertips to gently push it over the bar.

64″ Odense is given a yellow card for obstructing Frei on a drop kick.

Odense scores in 65′. The goal scorer hits Frei’s near post with a shot that smashes into the upper left corner.

68″ Morris has a breakaway, but his powerful shot is just wide.

72′ SUB: JP is entered by Kalani.

Nathan made a fantastic dash to block an attack near the 78′ mark. He is an exceptionally skilled defender.

79′ Frei makes a fantastic stop as Odense rushes through transition and places the ball right in front of him. Frei catches the ball with firmness.

82′ Odense’s goal. Frei gets a paw on a shot, but the man on the other side is waiting to get the rebound.

89′ The wall blocks Rusnak’s free kick from roughly 25 yards out.

NOTES: Tacoma Defiance midfielder Snyder Brunell held his own despite the unfortunate Atencio injury. After the game, Schmetzer stated that JP and Atencio’s substitutions were made as a precaution. Morris and Nathan each had two excellent opportunities for Seattle that might have altered the outcome. The Danish team performed admirably during the changeover, demonstrating a midseason level of fitness as opposed to a preseason one.
