Three Angels Who Are Not Coming Home to Anaheim in 2024.
The Los Angeles Angels could go through a change as a result of the upcoming offseason. They have attempted to center their strategy around their two superstar players, Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, for the past few years, but it hasn’t worked out at all.
Things don’t appear to be getting better at all, and the team hasn’t made it to the postseason since 2014. Ohtani might decide to leave this offseason, in which case the team would be in serious trouble.
Therefore, the Halos must make some important decisions that will affect their whole roster. It might appear significantly different from the previous season, which could work to their advantage.
The following three Angels players are unlikely to be back on the team in 2024:
1. In 2023, Eduardo Escobar earned $10 million.
Although Escobar was acquired from the New York Mets during the season with the intention of invigorating the Angels offense, he had the exact opposite effect. Once he reached the Halos, he really struggled, and it worked against them. Escobar only hit.226 at the end of the 2023 season, with 31 runs batted in and six home runs.
He has a club option for $9 million next season, and the team is almost assured to decline that. They could invest that cash in a player who is more productive.
2. In 2023, Randal Grichuk earned $10.4 million.
At the trade deadline, Grichuk was added back to the Angels, but a few weeks later, he was among the players placed on waivers. Even though he was one of the few who had not been claimed, his placement there suggests that they have no intention of keeping him.
