The NFL has placed Eyioma Uwazurike on an indefinite suspension.

The defensive end for the Denver Broncos was given an indefinite suspension on Monday for placing bets on league games in the 2024 season. Iowa State football player Uwazurike will be able to file a petition for reinstatement no early than July 24, 2024.

A fourth-round selection in 2022, Uwazurike, 25, was selected. As a rookie, he appeared in eight games and recorded 17 tackles. In advance of his suspension, he was supposed to report to the Broncos’ training camp in Englewood, Colorado, on Tuesday, when he was supposed to begin his second season with the team, according to CNN.

Five NFL players were suspended for breaking the organization’s gambling policy.
In the NFL locker rooms, Uwazurike is “the 10th player this offseason” to face a suspension for placing bets on league games or other sports, according to NBC.

It is strictly prohibited for NFL players and staff to gamble while on NFL property. They are also not permitted to enter sportsbooks during the NFL season, reveal any confidential NFL information, or have any kind of personal, professional, or social connection with sports bettors.

Only in their spare time and during the NFL season are players allowed to place non-sports bets at regulated casinos and horse or dog racing tracks.
