The Angels are near the bottom of the first MLB.com Power Rankings for 2024.

Many of the best free agents are still pending signings as the MLB offseason continues. But fresh power rankings coincide with a new year.

In the initial 2024 MLB.com rankings, the Los Angeles Angels are positioned near the bottom of the list. They enter at number 24, which seems appropriate given their current team standing.

They can advance for the new rankings, but it will require some excellent front office work. The main task for the Angels begins now, as they have been comparatively quiet in free agency thus far.

They have a big void in their lineup after losing two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani to the Los Angeles Dodgers, who play across town. Starting pitching is the team’s top priority, but the Halos have many holes in their lineup.

Starting pitchers Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery have been linked to them to lead the rotation, but the Angels have a history of being reluctant to give pitchers big free-agent contracts.
