Nathan Scheelhaase, an assistant coach
The fact that Scheelhaase had coached a variety of positions was one of the things that attracted McVay to hire him. Before moving to Iowa State, he served as an offensive assistant in 2016 and 2017 and as the running backs coach at Illinois in 2015. He spent a year coaching the running backs at Iowa State, two years coaching the wide receivers, two years coaching both positions, and one year in 2023 coaching the quarterbacks and offensive coordinators.
