Huge Setback: The departure Of 4 Red Bull Racing Drivers Might Cause The Downfall Of The….
Red Bull Racing was ready to start construction on a brand-new racetrack complex that would feature a new wind tunnel. However, the group retracted their proposal for the new facility’s planning for an undisclosed cause.
Red Bull was working to stay ahead of the pack in terms of development, much like Mercedes, Aston Martin, McLaren, and other teams that have over the years made significant investments in their headquarters infrastructure.
The Milton Keynes company planned to test its 2024 Formula One car at its new wind tunnel facility, investing between 50 and 75 million euros. However, according to UK councillor Sam Collins, a broadcaster, some records show that Red Bull has temporarily stopped work on the new wind tunnel.
Collins stated on X that Red Bull has suffered a setback.
“Red Bull’s new wind tunnel in Milton Keynes, UK, is not proceeding as planned. The group has taken down their proposal for the new facility’s planning. which implies there is no possibility of a quick start to building.
It also implies that the team would be pushing to use any new wind tunnel for significant development on the Ford-powered 2026 car rather than using it for much of anything on the 2025 car.
“For the time being, the crew will continue to operate its 75-year-old tunnel at Twinwoods, UK.
“The reason for the withdrawal is still unknown, but it’s possible that the team will need to find a new tunnel location or make significant changes to the original plans.”
Chief technical officer Adrian Newey, who opposed the notion of starting from scratch to build a new wind tunnel, is one significant Red Bull employee who may be pleased with the cancellation of the wind tunnel plans. In 2022, when the new wind tunnel plans were being developed, he stated:
We simply take too long to increase to the appropriate wind speed. And that takes away time that we truly have in the wind tunnel—time that is highly relevant.
“I would continue to develop CFD [Computational Fluid Dynamics] in its entirety. Though it would be far more sustainable, there aren’t enough votes for it, unfortunately. The typical suspects oppose it.

Red Bull is still moving on with its plans, meanwhile, to construct a new structure for power unit operations. Collins declared his conclusion:
