Due to a lingering hamstring injury, the Seattle Seahawks will have to After Abraham Lucas returns to practise this week, decide whether or not to activate his injured reserve.
With a hamstring injury that has plagued him for the last month, Tyler Lockett of the Seattle Seahawks is one of four players who are questionable to play on Sunday at SoFi Stadium against the Los Angeles Rams.
Since a few weeks ago, Lockett has been a frequent addition to Seattle’s injury report, missing practise all this week as the team evidently protects one of its biggest stars. Despite missing practise, the ninth-year veteran has plenty of experience playing on game day, so his chances of suiting up in Los Angeles are increased. He has yet to miss any games due to the bothersome injury.
Coach Pete Carroll stated, “He ran today, he worked out, and he did all of that with the trainers,” following
In addition to Lockett’s uncertain status, the Seahawks also assigned safety Jamal Adams, cornerback Tre Brown, and tackle Abraham Lucas to uncertain positions for Sunday’s game. With an abdominal injury that resurfaced after he made his season debut last week, receiver Dareke Young was officially declared out.
Carroll stated that Lucas would not be prepared to make his debut this weekend. Lucas was designated by Seattle to return to practise from injured reserve on Wednesday. The second-year tackle has missed practise on Wednesday and Thursday due to a knee injury that required an injection in September. He did not play on Friday, and the team will continue to assess him the following week to see if he can get back into the starting lineup.
Although a formal announcement has not yet been made, it is reported that the Seahawks will add practise squad veteran Jason Peters to the 53-man roster in lieu of Lucas. The practise squad elevated the 41-year-old blocker three weeks in a row, and he played well against the Commanders last weekend. However, he has used up all of his elevations and needs to be on the active roster in order to play again.
The Seahawks could put Young back on injured reserve after activating him a week ago in order to make room for Peters, which would regrettably end Young’s season. Additionally, McClendon Curtis and Raiqwon O’Neal, two undrafted rookie tackles, are on the 53-man roster. The team may waive them in the hopes of eventually adding them back as practise squad members.
Regarding other offensive line updates, Anthony Bradford, a rookie from Seattle, will be ready to play if necessary after sitting out the previous two games due to a knee injury. The LSU product, selected in the fourth round, is probably going to be Phil Haynes’ backup, but the team may use a platoon and give both players reps on Sunday.
Similar to Lockett, Adams has also been a frequent presence on Seattle’s injury report. He has a sore knee from a torn quad tendon from the previous season, and the team has taken good care of him during the week. Carroll is listed as questionable, but he hasn’t missed any games since being activated from the PUP list in Week 4. Carroll is optimistic that he will be ready to play.
