There will be several changes in the league, but McCarron’s team will remain the same. The USFL and XFL combined to become the United Football League this past spring.

McCarron completed his pass career with the St. Louis Cardinals with 2,150 yards, 24 touchdowns, and six interceptions.

Following quarterback Joe Burrow’s season-ending wrist injury, McCarron was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals, with whom he played the final six games of the most recent NFL season. During his two Bengals games, he completed four passes for nineteen yards.

In order to sign with the BattleHawks and play this spring for St. Louis, where he became a fan favorite in 2023, McCarron, 33, requested that the Bengals release him.

Last season, McCarron’s 24 touchdown passes for the Battlehawks in nine games set an XFL record. Along with ranking second in the league with 203 completions and 2,150 passing yards, he also topped the league in completion percentage (68.8%).

At Alabama, McCarron captured three national championships, including back-to-back ones in 2011–12.

The Bengals selected McCarron in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He has completed 113 of 179 passes for 1192 yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions in his seven NFL seasons of play.

The United Football League was formed by the merger of four USFL teams and four XFL teams, including St. Louis. Later this month, the UFL teams begin training camp; the inaugural season begins on March 30.

The XFL and USFL merged during the off-season to form the UFL. Eight teams will compete in the new league, one of which being the Battlehawks, who drew crowds of over 30,000 fans each game in the Dome at America’s Center, the former home of the NFL’s St. Louis Rams.

There will be two conferences in the UFL. The DC Defenders, Arlington Renegades, San Antonio Brahmas, and BattleHawks will all be part of the XFL Conference. The Birmingham Stallions, Houston Roughnecks, Memphis Showboats, and Michigan Panthers are the teams that will be a part of the USFL Conference.

With an average of almost 35,000 spectators for each of their five home games in 2023, the BattleHawks led the XFL in attendance. All season ticket memberships provide opportunities for special events, priority seat renewal for the 2025 season, and the ability to purchase additional tickets at the member rate.

The BattleHawks’ head coach Anthony Becht will return. He added that McCarron was only a small component of the team’s victory the previous season.
