Report: Ohio state Releasing Former Bengals Tight End C.J……

Cincinnati — C.J. Uzomah, a former tight end for the Bengals, will be returning to the free market. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Jets are cutting Uzomah in order to avoid paying the $5 million salary cap.

The 31-year-old tight end, who in 2022 agreed to a three-year, $24 million contract with the Jets, caught 29 passes for 290 yards and three touchdowns in 27 games for New York. Due to an MCL injury, Uzomah spent the entire 2023 season on injured reserve.

With no names signed as of yet, he might make a good return candidate for Cincinnati as a depth piece in a tight-end room.

From 2015 to 21 Uzomah was a Cincinnati player.
