Report: The Houston Roughnecks key player is been suspended from all sports for placing a bets against…

On Thursday, the Houston Roughnecks signed wide receiver Whop Philyor and cut cornerbacks Nick Grant and Shahman Moore.

The only UFL team to make any transactions on Thursday was the Houston Roughnecks, who signed a wide receiver and cut two cornerbacks. Former Indiana pass catcher Whop Philyor was brought to the team in place of Nick Grant and Shahman Moore.

After starting nine USFL games for the Houston Gamblers last season, Grant’s dismissal seems unexpected. He recorded 28 tackles in the 2023 campaign. Grant had 138 tackles, 24 pass deflections, six tackles for loss, four interceptions, three forced fumbles, one touchdown, and 0.5 sacks in 59 games throughout his five seasons with Virginia.

Moore had already signed a letter of intent with the Orlando Guardians of the XFL in October. He attended West Florida, Washington State, and El Camino Community College to play collegiate ball. Moore played in 10 games for West Florida in 2021, recording 15 tackles and one pass deflection.

Philynor played for the Michigan Panthers in the USFL for a portion of the previous season. In 2021, he was a member of the Minnesota Vikings roster. Along with finishing ninth in career receiving yards (2,067) and fourth in career receptions (181), Philynor also left Indiana having scored 12 touchdowns in 38 games. 2019 was his greatest year, catching 70 catches for 1,002 yards and five touchdowns.

On March 31, the Roughnecks take on the Memphis Showboats at home in their season opener.
