ESPN REPORT: Another Mega Star Commits To Texas Longhorns.

On Saturday, the first automatic bids to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament will be decided. Conference competitions are under way as March craziness gets closer.

The Texas Longhorns (19-11, 8-9 Big 12) are expected to make it into the tournament, most likely as an eight or nine seed out of the 68 teams who will punch their ticket.

Texas recently suffered a heartbreaking 94-85 setback against the Baylor Bears in Waco. Even though senior guard Max Abmas finished with a season-high 33 points, the Longhorns were unable to stay up with the Bears, behind by 11 points with 13 minutes remaining in the game at Baylor.

Positively, the Longhorns offense is clicking at the ideal moment as they have nearly zero turnovers and have made 57% of their field goals in the last three games.

Texas plays its final home game of the regular season against Oklahoma on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT. Another crucial opportunity for Texas to make a stronger argument for a higher seed to the NCAA Tournament selection committee is the afternoon home game, sometimes known as senior night.

The Longhorns will then turn their attention to the Big-12 Tournament. Texas’s opportunity to win consecutive conference titles will take place from March 12–16 at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Not an easy task, given that the Big-12 Conference is predicted to send the most teams—nine—to the NCAA Tournament, making it the most successful conference overall.

March 17 is Selection Sunday, while the First Four and First Round take place on March 19–20 and March 21–22, respectively.

On April 8, the NCAA Championship Game will mark the conclusion of the Big Dance. Right now, the UConn Huskies are the clear favorites to take home the trophy. In order to win the 2023 NCAA title, UConn defeated San Diego State 76-59 in the championship game last year. Florida is the latest team to win back-to-back championships in 2006 and 2007.
