A ground-breaking in-season tournament is being considered for Rutgers basketball, which is set to make its debut in the much awaited 2024–25 campaign.
According to an On3 report that NJ Advance Media confirmed on Friday night, the Scarlet Knights are one of several teams in talks to compete in the eight-team tournament known as the “Players Era,” which is scheduled for November.
Dylan Harper led Don Bosco Prep basketball victory in the Non-Public A state championship on Friday night while playing on the court that would eventually become his home. Harper joined with Rutgers basketball last week, and his dominating performance was on display in Don Bosco’s 56-29 victory over Paul VI.
At Jersey Mike’s Arena, Harper nearly outscored Paul VI on his own, scoring 26 points to help Don Bosco win a state championship. Harper, a five-star guard who committed to Rutgers in December, was recently ranked by USA TODAY High School Sports as the sixth-best prospect in the country.
With a 28-3 record at the end of the season, the Ironmen had won 18 straight games. Harper gave a classic effort as a guard potential against a strong Paul VI team.
Harper finished with 26 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists.
