ESPN and NFL Network announced on Saturday night that defensive tackle Chris Jones and the Kansas City Chiefs have reached an agreement on a five-year, $95 million contract.

The reports state that the entire $95 million in the first three years of the agreement is guaranteed. Jones will have the highest average yearly salary of any defensive tackle in NFL history once pen meets paper.

The previous record, held by Los Angeles Rams standout Aaron Donald, was $31.6 million annually.

Jones was able to sign with Kansas City just before he became a free agent. In 2029, he will be free to sign with no restrictions.

Jones expressed his joy on X, the former name of Twitter, following the emergence of information about the agreement.

“Letssss gooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!” Jones posted something, and then another commented, “KC…5 more years of excellence! thrice”

Jones, 29, has won three Super Bowls and been selected to the Pro Bowl five times. Last season, he made 16 appearances (all starts) and finished with 10.5 sacks, 30 tackles, and 29 quarterback hits.

Jones has accumulated 75.5 sacks, 273 tackles, 175 quarterback hits, 12 forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and one pick-6 in 123 career games (102 starts) during his eight seasons with the Chiefs.
