“I am worthy to be traded” North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball star insisting to leave the team due to…

As of Selection Sunday this year, the ACC had not provided a No. 1 seed since 2019. The conference was represented on the top line by the basketball team from UNC and their bitter rival, Duke.

The Tar Heels (27-7) now hold the distinction of becoming the first ACC team to earn a No. 1 seed this decade. Prior to losing to NC State in the ACC Tournament finals on Saturday night, the team was on an eight-game winning streak. Hubert Davis, the head coach in his third year, and his team are the best in the West area of the NCAA Tournament.

either Thursday, UNC will travel to Charlotte to take either Howard or Wagner, the No. 16 seeds. The winner of Saturday’s game between No. 8-seeded Mississippi State and No. 9-seeded Michigan State will take on the Tar Heels.

In UNC’s region, Arizona is ranked No. 2, followed by No. 3 Baylor and No. 4 Alabama, who complete the top four.

No. 4 seed Duke in the South, No. 6 seed Clemson in the West, No. 10 seed Virginia in the Midwest, and No. 11 seed NC State in the South are the other four ACC schools who won invitations to this year’s Big Dance.

As an interesting side note, all five of the program’s NCAA championship teams throughout the seeding era (there was no such thing in 1957) had the honor. This makes the Tar Heels’ record 18th No. 1 seed. Fellow bluebloods Kansas (15), Duke (14), and Kentucky (12) are next on that list.

No other university has more than ten No. 1 seeds.

Out of the three No. 1 seeds this round, reigning national champion UConn has the most, with six. They are on the top line in the East region.

After Kansas defeated No. 8 seed UNC in the championship game, the Jayhawks became the last No. 1 seed to cut down the nets in April, which happened in 2022.
