The NBA Coach of the Year, George Karl, will not be returning to the Denver Nuggets in 2019. The franchise made this announcement on Thursday.
Karl expressed gratitude to Nuggets fans on Twitter.
“I have been appreciative of Nuggets fans’ support for the last eight years. The street had incredible karma. “Denver will always be my home,” he tweeted.
At sixty-two, Karl was set to commence the final year of a contract that paid him an annual salary of $4.5 million. A source with knowledge of the situation told ESPNLosAngeles.com’s Ramona Shelburne that while Karl was amenable to modifying the conditions and length of the contract, Denver might choose to sign him to a three-year extension.
