ESPN REPORT: The West Indies Head Coach is Being Fired Due to..

hil Simmons has been sacked as West Indies cricket coach.

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) confirmed the sacking just moments ago.

Simmons was reportedly informed about the termination of his contract on Tuesday just prior to the T20 squad flying to the UAE.

Simmons firing comes just six months after the West Indies won the T20 World Cup.

The former regional opener became West Indies coach in 2015 after ending his spell in charge of Ireland.

Simmons was suspended by the WICB after saying that he was not being allowed to pick the best team for the ODI series against Sri Lanka last year.

He was suspended by the WICB and reinstated only after issuing a public apology.

In their most recent series, the West Indies lost the Test series 2-0 but won the T20 series 1-0 with a match rained out.

The West Indies are due to play three T20 internationals and three ODIs against Pakistan in the UAE beginning on September 23rd.

The West Indies have won only one Test in 14 matches under Phil Simmons.

In a statement, the WICB said,
