Florida’s Miami Gardens (AP) — It didn’t take Kirby Smart long to persuade his Georgia Bulldogs of the Orange Bowl’s significance.

“We’re going to compete like hell at Georgia as long as winning matters,” Smart declared.

The Bulldogs were nearly at full strength going into their game against Florida State on Saturday night. The Seminoles did not, as they were without at least a dozen of their main players due to opt-outs and players on the transfer portal.

As one might expect, the sixth-ranked Bulldogs defeated fourth-ranked and previously unbeaten Florida State 63-3 in the Orange Bowl, a matchup between teams that did not make the College Football Playoffs.

According to Smart, the outcome of the match was a sign of a more serious issue in the sport.
