What Ohio State’s most recent pledge implies for the class of 2024: The Buckeye Breakfast.
Columbus, Ohio — Gabe VanSickle, a 2024 offensive lineman, committed to Ohio State on Thanksgiving night, giving the Buckeyes their fourth commitment of the class up front.
VanSickle, ranked No. 613 in the 247Sports composite rankings, will join Ian Moore, Devontae Armstrong, and Deontae Armstrong in the offensive line class. Marc Nave (Toledo) was formerly in the class, but he dropped out earlier this autumn.
What does that signify, then, for Ohio State’s class of 2024?
First off, Ohio State has secured two interior players and two tackles for the 2024 class. VanSickle and Devontae are considered interior linemen, while Deontae Armstrong and Moore are the two tackles. This places the class at four, so if the Buckeyes maintain their current ranking of four, they should have no problems with their numbers.
Right now, Moore (ranked No.134) is the class’s highest-rated recruit, followed by Deontae (ranked No.423), Devontae (ranked No.459), and VanSickle (ranked No. 613). Although this class lacks the five-star talent that most fans desire, Ohio State believes that its players can grow into strong linemen in the future.
After an unofficial visit in mid-October, VanSickle—a resident of Coopersville, Michigan—made an official visit during Ohio State’s victory over Michigan State.
There aren’t many options left for Ohio State in the 2024 class before it is finished in late December, with 23 commitments in the class.
Yes, Seaton continues to pique Ohio State’s interest.
Including Seaton in the class would provide Ohio State with the blue-chip offensive tackle it has been looking for. Seaton is ranked No. 1 offensive tackle, No. 15 player in the country, and a five-star prospect from IMG Academy.
Seaton has ranked the Buckeyes among the top seven teams, along with Tennessee, Oregon, Colorado, Florida, Maryland, and Alabama. Though he was unable to make it, there was hope that Seaton would come for the Michigan State game.
Considering the position he plays and his level of play, Seaton is an automatic choice for Ohio State. Although the Buckeyes will have to defeat several formidable opponents to acquire Seaton, he is the kind of player who would undoubtedly elevate the 2024 class in almost every aspect.
The weather won’t be an excuse for anything that happens at The Big House on Saturday.
Though chilly, the Thursday night forecast for Saturday’s game is not one that should cause any issues. The afternoon high is expected to be 39 degrees, with mostly cloudy skies and 5-to 10-mile-per-hour winds. Even though it will be dry, the temperature will drop to 21 degrees at night.
Fans of Ohio State should not be alarmed if they anticipate a replay of 2021, when everything seemed to go against the Buckeyes—even the snow. Mother Nature won’t play a part.
