Iowa football injury report: Diante Vines, Beau Stephens expected to miss Nebraska game

Report: Hawkeyes key man ruled out due to a huge injury blow which might take a whole season.

Logan Jones ‘not going to get 100 percent healthy’ during regular season

IOWA CITY Head coach Kirk Ferentz stated during his weekly news conference that Iowa wide receiver Diante Vines and offensive lineman Beau Stephens are anticipated to miss the Hawkeyes’ game against Nebraska on Friday.

According to Ferentz, every other player “got a chance” to play against Nebraska. Logan Jones, the center, is one of them.

Ferentz stated, “We’ll see,” regarding Jones’ condition for Friday’s match. It’s one of those wounds that will never heal. He will not become completely well. It’s unlikely that he will get the opportunity in the upcoming weeks, but perhaps in the bowl game.

According to Ferentz, Jones is “improving weekly,” though.

Then, Ferentz added, “he bounces back quicker if he does have a setback.”

Due to an injury, Jones left the Northwestern game on November 4 and did not come back. In Iowa’s final two games, he made a fleeting appearance before Tyler Elsbury took his place.

Jones hasn’t participated in an entire game since Iowa’s bye week.

Stephens and Vines haven’t participated in a game since Northwestern.

With Vines out, Ohio State transfer Kaleb Brown has stepped up and has 10 catches for 98 yards over the last two games.

During Stephens’ absence, Kade Pieper has filled Stephens’ second-team guard position on the offensive line. Tyler Elsbury is anticipated to take over as the Hawkeyes’ first-team starter in the event that Jones is unable to play.
