According to information on their official club website, Sunderland will be without Adil Aouchiche this weekend.
Sunderland will play Norwich City at the Stadium of Light to begin their Championship campaign. Their most recent away loss was to Leicester City, who are currently atop the table.
The 21-year-old Aouchiche skipped the trip to the King Power Stadium. He’s been hit and his muscles are slightly hurt.
According to the most recent update, he won’t be ready for the Canaries game, according to the club website. Other team updates include the return to training of Bradley Dack, Eliezer Mayenda, and Jewison Bennette from his international assignment; Aji Alese, Corry Evans, Timothée Pembélé, and Jay Matete remain out.
Man from Sunderland excluded
Aouchiche gives Sunderland competition and depth in attacking areas, so his absence is a bit of a blow. But they have a plethora of other options available to them in his position.
The former France youth international was signed by them in the summer, and since then, he has made seven appearances for the North East team across all competitions.
He signed a five-year contract with the Black Cats, who hope he can play a major role for them in the future.
Aouchiche was a student at PSG’s academy and later made three appearances for the first team, contributing one goal.
After departing the French powerhouses in 2020, he played for FC Lorient and Saint-Etienne before deciding to move to England in July to start a new chapter in his career.
On Saturday, Sunderland will have the opportunity to get back on track against Norwich. The team led by Tony Mowbray is one point out of the playoffs.
