Tom Lockyer says he hasn’t ruled out getting back on the football field, but he is “at peace” with the idea of not playing the game in the future.
In December 2023, while playing for Luton Town in a Premier League match against Bournemouth, the 29-year-old Wales defender suffered a heart arrest.
He claims he was “technically dead” for two minutes and forty seconds before being revived by medical professionals.
Lockyer, who became a father for the first time in March 2024, claims to have reevaluated his goals in light of the future.
I’ve been very clear that I would love to play football again, but in the end, it would have to be decided by a cardiologist or other specialist who has thoroughly investigated what happened and whether it could occur again. Our little girl now comes first, Lockyer said on BBC Radio Wales Breakfast.
“Obviously, I would love to play football again; it’s my life, but if that doesn’t work out, then I’m also okay with that.”
“It’s not the end of the world because I played for my nation, participated in and scored goals in every league from non-league to the Premier League.
“After the
