The W.K. Kellogg Biological Station in Hickory Corners, Michigan, is the host of the 2023 Annual Conference of the Michigan Clean Water Corps (MiCorps), a network of volunteer monitoring programmes that gathers and disseminates surface water quality data statewide. The conference is scheduled for October 20, 2023. On October 19, 2023, those attending the conference can choose to stay the night at the W.K. Kellogg Biological Station, where they can take part in an afternoon workshop and an evening reception.
For the MiCorps Conference in 2023, registration is now open. Session topics on the agenda include freshwater mussel monitoring, volunteer lake data interpretation, stream macroinvertebrate identification, and the use of volunteer monitoring data by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE)! Attending the conference provides a chance to network with volunteers and exchange questions and ideas about ongoing monitoring initiatives. It’s also a great way to find out more about the MiCorps initiatives, like the Cooperative Lakes Monitoring Programme and the Volunteer Stream Monitoring Programme.

In order to involve the public in gathering data on water quality for use in programmes for the management and protection of water resources, EGLE established MiCorps in 2004. Michigan State University oversees MiCorps for EGLE in collaboration with the Huron River Watershed Council and the Michigan Lakes and Streams Association.
