Putting his appalling record aside, the thunderstorm that caused tonight’s game to be postponed has marred the major league debut of righty Jonathan Cannon, ranked 11th overall and sent up from Triple-A Charlotte. After fellow righty Nick Nastrini’s start yesterday, his start tomorrow in the first game of the doubleheader will be the third time in history that the White Sox have had a new starting pitcher debut on back-to-back games.

At six feet six inches, Cannon possesses an extensive repertoire of pitches, with his cutter being the most effective. His pitch counts of over ninety will probably enable him to pitch at least five innings per start, just like a true starter. As resident runagate, it’s hard to predict how long Nastrini or Cannon will stay in the major leagues.
