Sydney McLaughlin set the record for the third time in history at Hayward Field.

She achieved her first at the US Olympic Trials in 2021, clocking 51.90, surpassing Muhammad’s world record of 52.16 set when he won the 2019 world title ahead of her fellow countryman.

A little more than a month later, McLaughlin ran 51.46 to win the Olympic title in Tokyo. On June 25, at the US Championships in Eugene, Oregon, she set a new record with a time of 51.41.

On Sunday, the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, will conclude.
