Pat Kelsey reportedly targeting 2 mega stars from rivals.

The men’s basketball team from Louisville will travel to the Bahamas prior to the start of the Pat Kelsey era.

The Cardinals announced the trip to the Caribbean on Friday. The Baha Mar Hoops Summer League will see the team play two preseason games from July 28 to August 2.

The trip will be “invaluable,” according to a statement from Kelsey’s U of L Athletics team. The 2024–25 squad will practice at the Planet Fitness Kueber Center for ten days prior to their departure. After Kenny Payne was fired, every scholarship player from the 2023–24 season hit the NCAA transfer portal, forcing him and his staff to assemble a squad from the ground up.

“It will be a vital time for us on the court, but it will also give us plenty of opportunities to (jell) off the court as well,” Kelsey stated. “I hope by taking this trip, we have a real advantage when it comes time to start practicing in the fall.”

This year, Louisville is traveling to the Bahamas twice; the first trip will take place in the summer.

Additionally, the Cards are participating in the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis, which takes place at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort from November 27 to 29. Matches do not currently not yet revealed, although Arizona, Davidson, Gonzaga, Indiana, Oklahoma, Providence, and West Virginia are among the teams participating in the event.

The official start of U of L’s 2024–25 season is Nov. 4 at the KFC Yum! Center against Morehead State.

The last time Louisville traveled to Puerto Rico for a summer tour was in 2015, when the Cards went to play against the national teams of the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
