“He is mentioning me!” – Hwang Hee-chan, a star for Wolves, reacts to Man City manager Pep Guardiola’s lighthearted moniker of “Korean guy”
AHEAD OF TIME? Prior to Manchester City’s match against The Wanderers in September, Guardiola showered his rival’s forward line with compliments. But the manager, who was praising Wolves’ strikers, couldn’t remember Hee-Chan’s name and instead called him “the Korean guy”.
The player has now discussed the peculiar moniker and stated that he only focused on the “positive” and that there is no ill will between the two.
“Prior to the game, I noticed this nickname. I make an effort to think positively. He is among the world’s top coaches. He’s also mentioning me. It’s an honour for me. I just focused on the bright side,” he remarked.
THE BIGGER PICTURE: Hee-Chan scored the game-winning goal to hand the reigning champions their first defeat of the Premier League season. The social media administrator for Wolves tweeted “THE KOREAN GUY” following the winner in response to his goal.
Next what? On Saturday, Wolves will play Newcastle United, and on Sunday afternoon, Guardiola’s team will play a derby against Manchester United, their bitter rivals.
