Defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence is once again receiving recognition for his outstanding play on the field following a 2022 campaign in which he had a major breakthrough.
Three quarters of the way through the season, Pro Football Focus released their 2023 All-Pro Team, and among the First-Team defensive linemen was Lawrence.
According to PFF’s Gordon McGuinness, “Lawrence has followed up his monster 2022 campaign with an even better season to date in 2023.” “He has racked up 53 total pressures, including five sacks and 11 quarterback hits, from 333 pass-rushing snaps, and his 32 tackles resulting in a defensive stop are the third most among interior defenders.”
In 11 games this season, Lawrence has recorded four sacks, 41 total tackles (25 solo), 17 quarterback hits, two passes defensed, and 53 total pressures.
In addition to being their top-ranked pass rusher and second-best run defender at the position, PFF has Lawrence as their overall top-ranked interior defensive lineman for 2023.
Quinnen Williams, a defensive lineman for the New York Jets, was selected to the First Team, joining Lawrence. Jalen Carter of the Philadelphia Eagles and Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams were selected to the Second-Team, respectively.
Lawrence missed the team’s first practice of the week on Tuesday because of a hamstring injury that kept him out of the game during Week 12. But, head coach Brian Daboll stated that the team hopes to have him back on the field for Monday Night Football this week against the Packers.
