Their origin tale is as follows (vocals by Chris “Mr. Grit” Victor): “Well, I was hoping to hear something from Texas that was a little different. Hardcore bands who sounded like they were from California or New York were starting to grow old on me. I so reasoned that I should create a distinctively southern sound, something that was distinctly Texan. I was listening to Marty Robbins’ Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs record one day while at work when it occurred to me, ‘outlaw country and hardcore punk!’ I discussed the idea with [guitarist] Jamie Salgado shortly after. Jamie was really sceptical at first. Jamie finally produced our single, “Ain’t No Way,” after some convincing and some time passed. All we needed at that moment was a drummer, bassist, and additional guitarist. Promcore
