Draymond Green, a star player for the Golden State Warriors, received an indefinite suspension after hitting Jusuf Nurkic of the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday. For the third time this year, Green was ejected from the game. Although Green’s run-in with the NBA is nothing new, this time there will be an indefinite suspension as a result.
Tom Izzo, the former college coach of Michigan State basketball, responded to this most recent suspension. Izzo, Green’s 2008–2012 coach, hasn’t spoken to him since the altercation, but he was disappointed to hear that he had been in another fight.
“The most awful thing is that I spoke with Draymond for thirty minutes last week,” Izzo remarked. But he was excellent. He is shooting the ball more effectively; his percentage from three is about 40%. DG commented on how well-groomed he looks. Everything was moving in the proper way. Reporter Madeline Kenney of Michigan State said, “I’m going to find out what happened. I don’t know what happened.”
“His age is thirty-three.” Even though he will be his own man, I still adore and care about him, and occasionally I worry. Both the coach and the players must adapt to the changing times. I can’t claim to know what happened; I only heard about it and am sad for him. I didn’t witness it.
Where the Warriors and Green really go from here is unknown. Golden State must undoubtedly focus their current efforts on adjusting to Green’s absence, but neither side can afford to allow these incidents to continue to harm Green and the team. It is said that Green will begin counseling shortly, but it will be interesting to see what transpires following this most recent suspension.
