Tale of Recruiting:
In their recruitment efforts, Michigan hasn’t been afraid to cast a wide net, and tight ends coach Grant Newsome found 2024 four-star tight end Hogan Hansen, a gifted prospect on the West Coast. He took several visits and looked at a number of programs after accepting the Wolverines’ offer in April 2022, but he ended his recruitment fairly early by committing to the Maize and Blue in December of that same year. He is one of the class’s most steadfast pledges and hasn’t wavered since making that choice.
Scouting Summary:
According to Brandon Huffman, National Recruiting Editor at 247Sports
The Wolverines’ Wing-T offense, which Hansen is a part of, highlights his blocking prowess. He sees a fair number of targets in the right context. He performs an excellent job of blocking the edge so that his back can pick up yards from his blocks. He is a plus blocker. He works his releases to get himself open while running nice routes. In defense, he plays a great deal of snaps as a stand-up edge.
Michigan, why?
Hansen remarked, “I chose Michigan because I adore their culture.” “While there, I observed that everyone was committed to the team and its success, which is really meaningful to me in addition to having positive relationships with all of the coaches. Additionally, I think I get along well with coach Grant Newsome.”

In summary:
Given how frequently Michigan uses tight ends in their offense, they needed to bolster that group with a few more elite players, and Hogan Hansen perfectly matches their criteria. a gifted 6-foot-6, 220-pound pass-catcher who isn’t scared to step in and serve as a backup blocker when necessary. Hansen and Brady Prieskorn together ought to be seen as  one of the best tight end pairings this cycle as well.Â
