Raiders welcome Josh Jacobs to training camp with optimism.

Raiders Reacts Survey: Will RB Josh Jacobs hold out from training camp? - Silver And Black Pride

To kick off training camp, Raiders coach Josh McDaniels welcomed all of his players—aside from All-Pro running back Josh Jacobs—to the team’s Henderson headquarters on Tuesday morning. When word leaked that the Giants had signed Pro Bowl running back Saquon Barkley to a one-year contract, McDaniels was in the middle of meetings. However, he was clear that there was “nothing” new regarding a similar development with Jacobs.

The NFL’s leading rusher isn’t anticipated to show up for the Raiders’ opening practice tomorrow, or for some time to come, following reports from NFL Network that he was spotted leaving Las Vegas.

“I look forward to seeing him whenever he is here because I have a great deal of respect for him as a person and as a player for what he did for our team last year,” McDaniels remarked. “I also appreciate that procedure. It’s up to him to decide. It’s all about what they believe is best for him. Those are tasks that everyone must perform in life.

The only NFL player still waiting to sign is Jacobs, who was franchise tagged this offseason. The football community was ready for extended holdouts from Barkley and Jacobs, possibly all the way up to Week 1 of the regular season, but with Barkley, that scenario was averted.

Barkley’s $10.1 million franchise tag was partially converted by the Giants into a signing bonus and other incentives. Up until last Monday’s deadline for long-term contracts, McDaniels insisted that Raiders general manager Dave Ziegler and his team “worked feverishly” on negotiations with Jacobs.

“At that moment, it’s what it is, and I respect his decision to not sign a deal,” McDaniels remarked. “Not much has happened since the deadline.”
