ESPN REPORT: Bulldogs Star Player set to undergo wrist surgery on Hand Broken…

Coach Luke Fickell of Wisconsin revealed on Monday that quarterback Tanner Mordecai will be out indefinitely after fracturing his throwing hand against Iowa on Saturday.

A source informed ESPN that Mordecai underwent surgery on Sunday to implant a pin in his hand. There’s no word on a certain return date.

Late in the second quarter, when a pass to Will Pauling was completed, Iowa linebacker Jay Higgins’ helmet struck Mordecai’s hand, a sixth-year senior transfer from SMU.

Mordecai repeatedly touched his palm during the televised show, uttering the words “I can’t throw.” With less than two minutes left in the half, he exited the field after one more play and never came back.

He is by far the greatest competitor there is.

Coach Luke Fickell said on Monday that Wisconsin quarterback Tanner Mordecai is out indefinitely following a throwing hand break sustained on Saturday against Iowa.

Mordecai underwent surgery on Sunday to implant a pin in his hand, an ESPN source revealed. It is unknown when exactly he will return.

Late in the second quarter, following a pass to Will Pauling that was completed, Mordecai, a sixth-year senior transfer from SMU, shattered his hand when it struck Iowa linebacker Jay Higgins’ helmet.

During the TV show, Mordecai was heard repeatedly tapping his hand and muttering, “I can’t throw.” He exited the game with less than two minutes left in the half after one more play and never came back.

“No one is a greater competitor than him,

just because he refrained from coming out following the play, is that correct? Fickell stated during his press conference on Monday.

Wisconsin’s three-game winning streak came to an end as they lost to Iowa 15–6. This week, the Badgers go to Illinois; the following week, they play host to Ohio State, ranked third.

According to an ESPN source, Wisconsin will begin using redshirt freshman Braedyn Locke going forward.

“I think the biggest difference is just the experience,” Fickell stated. “And the amazing thing about Tanner Mordecai is that he can come in here and share not only his playing expertise but also his experience of going through a lot of ups and downs. Braedyn just lacks those experiences, which in some ways makes things harder for him. However,

He has a wonderful head on his shoulders, to be honest.”

Locke, a Mississippi State transfer, replaced Mordecai in the Iowa game and completed 15 of 30 passes for 122 yards and one interception. He has played in just two games this season, and this week against Illinois, he will make his debut.

Wisconsin (4-2, 2-1), which is second in the Big Ten West behind Iowa, has benefited from a strong performance by Mordecai. With 1,127 yards, he ranks eighth in the league in passing yards. He has also thrown three interceptions and three touchdown passes. With 398.5 yards per game, Wisconsin is ranked fifth in the Big Ten.

Mordecai and Josh, two of the Badgers’ greatest players and captains, are both injured.

renowned tailback Chez Mellusi is gone for the season after breaking his fibula.

Mordecai, a transfer from SMU, had thrown for over 3,500 yards in 2021 and 2022 when he got to Wisconsin. He attended Oklahoma for his first three years of college, from 2018 to 2020, and is currently in his sixth season.
