December 28: Contrary to popular belief, the Montreal Canadiens were in better form going into the holiday break.

They had to wait a while to play again, but they will play the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Thursday night.

Canadiens center Nick Suzuki stated, “I think it will really (propel) with us with the games after Christmas.” “I think guys will be excited to come back and get it going again.”

After a five-day break, the Canadiens were in Raleigh on Wednesday for practice. Montreal is on a five-game winning streak (3-0-2) and has won three of its last four games.

The Hurricanes traveled to Nashville on Wednesday to play the Predators, winning 5-2 despite having only three days off.

The Hurricanes may start Antti Raanta in the second of back-to-back games, despite Pyotr Kochetkov starting the last five games in the Carolina goal. Midway through December, Raanta was called back to the NHL team after clearing waivers and being sent to the minor leagues.

Sebastian Aho of Carolina scored a goal and provided three assists in Nashville. It marked his first four-plus point performance in his career and came on November 4, 2022. Aho’s 14 goals this season are a team high.

“Every night we play, we just have to give our best and try to get as many wins as we can,” Aho stated. “It doesn’t really matter what happened in the past.”
