Ryan Mallett, a former football player, passed unexpectedly at the age of 35.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office reports that Mallett, an NFL player for the New England Patriots, Houston Texans, and Baltimore Ravens, drowned in Destin, Florida.

According to KNWA, Mallett was on vacation with his girlfriend Madison Carter. Less than a month ago, on June 1, the former player and Carter made their Facebook official.

For two seasons in New England, the former quarterback supported Tom Brady, and late on Tuesday, the future Hall of Famer honored his former teammate on Instagram.

“A great man has left us.” “Ryan, thank you for everything,” he wrote.

“Tonight, I am praying for the Mallett family and all of their loved ones.”
