Wisconsin suspends LB Jordan Turner for violation of athletic department’s discipline policy

Wisconsin’s Madison (AP) The athletic department’s discipline code was broken by Wisconsin linebacker Jordan Turner, who was the second-leading tackler for the Badgers the previous season. As a result, Turner has been suspended from the team.

Chris McIntosh, the athletic director, declared Turner’s suspension on Friday.

The school declined to provide further information, stating that it is illegal for it to share information about disciplinary procedures taken against a student according to federal law. However, Turner claimed on Twitter that “I was cited with an OWI first offense along with additional traffic violations earlier this week.”

Unfortunately, this was not the proper decision for me to make—my parents taught me to do the right thing in life,” Turner stated. “I did not make the right choice. I want to sincerely apologize to my parents, my teammates, my coaches, the fans, and the University of Wisconsin. I’m incredibly sad and humiliated.

During the Badgers’ 7-6 campaign the previous year, Turner recorded 68 tackles, second only to Wisconsin linebacker Maema Njongmeta. Turner added two sacks and five tackles for loss. In Wisconsin’s 24-17 Guaranteed Rate Bowl victory over Oklahoma State, he was named the team’s defensive MVP.

Turner may continue to get support services throughout this suspension in the weight-training room, academic assistance center, and sports medical facility, according to school authorities. However, in accordance with the school’s punishment rules, he is not allowed to compete or practice until the factual investigation is over.
