Following surgery, Ohio State running back Miyan Williams will miss the remainder of the season, according to a statement made by Buckeyes coach Ryan Day on Tuesday.
Although Day did not reveal the nature of Williams’ injury, he did say that Williams underwent surgery and will miss the remainder of the season.
Day remarked, “I feel so bad for Miyan.” “That’s a big hit for that room and our team, but Tony [Alford has] done a great job building depth in that room.”
Oct. 21’s 20-12 victory over Penn State saw Williams lead the team with 62 rushing yards and a touchdown; however, an injury kept him out of the next game against Wisconsin. For the 2022 season, Williams led the team in rushing yards.
TreVeyon Henderson and Williams’ injuries have plagued Ohio State’s running back unit all season long. The only other Buckeye running back who has appeared in all eight games so far and is still healthy is Chip Trayanum.
Following his injury against Wisconsin, Henderson ran for 162 yards and a touchdown. In that game, his health and presence were crucial for Ohio State, and now that Williams is out for the season, they will be even more so.
With Henderson recording 68 carries, Trayanum recording 66, and Williams recording 49, it has been a team effort. With the Michigan game still scheduled to close out the season, the team cannot afford to lose any more running back injuries.
