The Cronulla Sharks could lose a key player due to salary cap implications.

Due to the salary cap violations, the Cronulla Sharks have already lost coach Shane Flanagan, and the penalties will only get worse.

The Sharks could lose a player as a result of the breach, according to reporter Danny Weidler of Nine News.

“The salary cap investigation is ongoing and the early indications are the penalties from that could them a serious player,” Weidler stated to Nine News.

“Also the CEO Barry Russell, there’s increasing speculation that he doesn’t want to hang around at the club for the long term.”

Weidler did provide confirmation that Flanagan’s assistant John Morris will probably be named coach, despite the startling revelation that the Sharks might be about to lose a player.

Weidler also noted that Morris enjoys a good reputation among the team’s veterans, which probably helped him during the hiring process.

“The good thing for the Sharks is that the playing group really likes Morris,” he stated.
