Defender: I’m playing with super-confidence
Lewis Brunt, the defender for Mansfield Town, scored his first goal as a professional in the Stags’ 4-1 victory over Harrogate Town, and now he says he’s playing with “super-confidence.”
Tuesday night saw Mansfield secure their first-ever victory over the Sulphurites, and the Leicester City loanee was outstanding in both boxes.
After the game, I said to iFollow Stags, “I’m playing with super-confidence right now.”
“It’s great to play next to Flinty because of his leadership and communication skills, and his style of play fits my style.
“I feel secure with the ball.
Every day I continue to learn. I’ve made a few mistakes in the past games, but I’m still getting used to playing professional football and learning new things.
“I think I’m doing well, so hopefully this keeps up.”
Lewis commented on the victory in North Yorkshire, saying, “It was a real good night.”
“In any competition, scoring four goals away from home is always a pleasant feeling.
“We’ll get back on the road after three points [tonight], and we’re looking forward to Saturday now.”
The defender’s skillful finish in the first half gave him the lead.
“I don’t usually score goals, but it feels good to contribute one,” he remarked.
“I knew it would have a chance if I kept it hard and low.”
“Winning games is all that matters; it doesn’t matter who the goals are coming from.”
The 22-year-old continued to compliment Stags’ performance.
“The intensity and communication were flawless right from the start.
“Everything went smoothly tonight.
“I think we could have had six or seven in the end.”
