This coming week, Rutgers basketball’s most impressive recruiting class will formally swear allegiance.

The early signing period began on Wednesday and runs through November 15. It is expected that all four current members of the Scarlet Knights’ illustrious 2024 class will sign a national letter of intent during this time. The team, which includes the highest-ranked commit in programme history, is currently ranked eighth nationally by the 247Sports Team Composite rankings.

Bailey, who is currently a freshman at Rutgers, will surpass current programme record holder Gavin Griffiths to become the third-ranked player in the 2024 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. This means that head coach Steve Pikiell will have recruited the two highest-ranked players in programme history in back-to-back classes.

The 6-foot-8, 185-pound prospect will join the Scarlet Knights as the first five-star prospect to sign a contract. Bailey’s commitment to Rutgers has been unwavering since he made an impressive pledge in January, and his bond with assistant coach Brandin Knight and Pikiell has only strengthened it.

In the first half of Rutgers’ basketball game against Michigan State on Saturday, October 14, 2023 in Piscataway, New Jersey, Ace Bailey, a 5-star recruit, is spotted watching from the sidelines. Dylan Harper, another 5-star recruit, is on the right.

Lathan Sommerville: The Illinois native and four-star centre is expected to be the final player in the quartet to sign. Sommerville declared that on November 15, the last day of the early signing period, he would have a signing ceremony at his high school at 3 p.m.

The 6-foot-10, 225-pound player is the second-highest ranked player in the Scarlet Knights’ class, coming in at number 124 on the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Bryce Dortch: The Massachusetts native and three-star forward is most likely the first player to be officially named in the Scarlet Knights’ 2024 class. He declared at his Brimmer and May high school that he intended to sign his NLI on Wednesday at 11:50 a.m. The 6-foot-8 wing, who is ranked 142nd nationally on 247Sports Composite, is compared to Caleb McConnell and Mawot Mag by the Rutgers coaching staff, who both became outstanding defenders while being coached by them.

Dylan Grant: The three-star forward, who is the newest commit to the 2024 recruiting class, is anticipated to sign his letter of intent on Wednesday. After Karl Hobbs left the programme to join Georgia Tech this offseason, Marlon Williamson, a first-year assistant coach, won his first recruiting battle with the 6-foot-7 Michigan prospect.

Harper Dylan? Harper, the final unclaimed recruit for Rutgers basketball in 2024 and the missing link in what would be a once-in-a-generation class in Piscataway, has not publicly stated when he plans to call it quits on his enigmatic recruitment.

There are just five schools left in the running for the five-star guard, who is ranked second in the country by the 247Sports Composite. All signs point to Rutgers, Duke, Kansas, Indiana, and Auburn. Harper, a star from Don Bosco Prep and a Rutgers graduate, is expected to sign in the April signing period and is not expected to end his recruitment in the next week, despite reports from 247Sports and Rivals suggesting his recruitment could unexpectedly end in the early signing period.
