This is the place to go for the most recent breaking news, sexy rumors, and random facts about Bill Belichick and his rumored retirement from coaching the New England Patriots.
Bill Belichick is among the greatest head coaches in NFL and American sports history, having won 31 playoff games, six Super Bowls, 333 games overall, and three Coach of the Year titles in 29 seasons. However, he is also 71 years old and recently went through the worst season of his illustrious career, ending 4-13 (lowest since 1992) with the New England Patriots.
Is a “Foxboro Farewell” in store for him? Or will owner Robert Kraft offer him another opportunity to revive the greatest dynasty in league history?
The most recent breaking news, intriguing speculations, and random facts…
Jan. 10: Former participants forecast Bill’s stay The more time this week’s will-he-or-won’t-he drama lasts, the more likely it seems that Belichick will persuade Kraft to retain him as the Patriots’ head coach. In fact, a few of his old teammates are already certain that Bill won’t be leaving.
Rob Gronkowski stated, “I believe he will be staying as head coach of the New England Patriots,” during a TV appearance with CBS Boston. “I’ll be very shocked if that’s not the case, and I won’t believe it until I see he’s not the head coach.”
Rob Ninkovich, a former linebacker for the Pats, concurs, warning Kraft not to make the same error with Belichick as he did with Tom Brady.
In an episode of Up & Adams this week, Ninkovich stated, “If you let Bill out the door and he goes and wins another Super Bowl like Tom did… “I’d keep Bill.”
It was Belichick’s lowest season as an NFL head coach in his 29 years of experience. The Pats finished 4-13 and have a 7-18 record over their previous 25 games. During the same time frame, only the Arizona Cardinals (5-20) have performed worse.
Though they both think Belichick is still a defensive guru, they also think he needs new blood in the locker room and on the offensive line.
“The thing I look at is that there are a lot of bad coaches and mediocre coaches just hanging on by the skin of their teeth,” stated Ninkovich. “Bill Belichick can win even with a strong roster. The Chargers are an instant Super Bowl contender if he joins them.”
