Lyle Foster: Burnley Boss Vincent Kompany Gives Update on…

Bafana Bafana strike Lyle Foster will not take part in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Burnley coach Vincent Kompoany has spoken about the striker weeks after he was omitted from South Africa’s final squad for the tournament.

The 23-year-old took a break from football in October to focus on his mental health, which saw him miss several games for club and country.

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos did not include Foster in his final squad, citing a “medical decision” as the reason, per iDiski Times. The news did not go down well with many South Africans who felt Foster was prioritising club over country.

Foster was expected to spearhead South Africa’s attack in the competition but will have to make do without the exciting attacker. Bafana Bafana are in Group E alongside Mali, 2004 winners Tunisia, and neighbours Namibia.
