Something happened tonight. After the Warriors’ defeat the previous night, everything was going great at first, but the Bulls then attempted to give it away in a thoughtless manner. Was the game on Friday night annoying? Yes, for several reasons. However, it was good that the team didn’t let it be an excuse for a lackluster performance tonight. The Bulls suffered a difficult defeat on Friday, but they recovered to win the game they had to.
Although we don’t usually begin with the bench, that’s where I’ll start now. Throughout the first half of the game, Jevon Carter, Ayo Dosunmu, and Andre Drummond had a significant impact on the second unit. The fact that Jevon Carter had a good evening was especially pleasant. He’s been having trouble the past few weeks, so maybe his effort tonight was a positive step.
Again, Coby White was excellent in this one. Even though I hope the Bulls win the rest of the season, my biggest wish for 2024 is that Coby White becomes a legitimate starting point guard for a team that is competitive in this league. Tonight was just another encouraging development in that regard. I’m thrilled that Zach LaVine has maintained his confidence despite his return to the starting lineup.
It was the third quarter and it was so annoying. And much of the fourth, too. Although we were in that situation, there’s really no reason to allow that Spurs team to continue playing without Wemby. To their credit, though, the Bulls withstood the comeback and prevailed.
