The women’s basketball game between Iowa and Ohio State concluded on Sunday in Columbus with the No. 18 Buckeyes defeating the No. 2 Hawkeyes in overtime. This resulted in a terrifying incident when a passionate Buckeyes fans flooded the Schottenstein Center court, knocking down Iowa standout Caitlin Clark.
Security eventually assisted Clark in returning to the locker room after she lay on the ground for a few minutes despite not being hurt in the accident. In an interview with reporters later, Clark admitted that the incident was terrifying but expressed gratitude that she was not gravely injured.
It was somewhat frightful. That might have seriously hurt me and taken my breath away,” Clark remarked. However, their AD, Gene Smith, has already come and expressed regret to me, so
Thank you so much for that. It was simply a matter of geography.
According to Clark’s explanation, given the circumstances, it seemed like the incident was handled properly. As additional fans rushed onto the floor, assistance arrived to remove her from the court and out of danger. She did lose her breath at Clark’s hands, but luckily that was all.
Even if the scene of fans storming the court after a significant upset can be thrilling, it nevertheless warrants caution and worry. Thankfully, nothing major happened in this instance, but there is still a chance.
