Ex-Tight end Jake Butt of Michigan says Jim Harbaugh should get “massive credit.”

Inconsistent play, several COVID-19 breakouts, and a level of fan annoyance that left many questioning whether head coach Jim Harbaugh was still the best choice for the position were all part of Michigan’s 2–4 record from the previous season. In just a year, the Wolverines will face rival Ohio State for the Big Ten East championship on Saturday.

While Michigan’s performance against Ohio State is frequently scrutinized, one former Wolverines player wants supporters to step back and recognize the turnaround head coach Jim Harbaugh has accomplished prior to “The Game.”

Jake Butt, a former tight end for Michigan from 2013 to 2017, recently retired from the NFL due to injuries. On Friday morning, he used Twitter to argue that Harbaugh has done a fantastic job leading this team.

“May we please give @CoachJim4UM a ton of credit? As a true leader would, he deflects all the praise and accepts all the blame. Nobody gave him or this team a chance, but they have persevered throughout the season and have a chance to defeat Ohio and advance.
