No. 1 among Alabama Football’s Top 10 Players of 2023.
As tomorrow’s Alabama Football A-Day Game gets underway, we recognize the player we think will be the best on the 2023 squad. Junior offensive tackle JC Latham appears to be a lock to be Alabama’s next first-round selection at the position, barring injury.
Latham has been a highly skilled athlete since attending IMG Academy for his high school education. In the 2021 class, he was rated as a 5-star recruit and the third-best player overall in the cycle. Latham was regarded as the best player in the state of Florida overall as well as the best offensive lineman in the country.
Despite not being able to break into the starting lineup during his actual freshman year, he made a significant contribution to the offensive line. JC Latham played a major role in Alabama’s convincing Cotton Bowl victory over Cincinnati in 2021, appearing in 14 games for the Crimson Tide.
In 2022, Latham began his sophomore year as the starting right tackle and never gave up the position. He strengthened Alabama Football’s right tackle position, which had been shaky the previous season, with a performance that was remarkably consistent.
The sophomore looks to advance both as a player and as a leader in 2023. He was a major part of the offensive line’s significant improvement for Alabama in the previous campaign.
