The reigning champion Warriors have the means to repeat as 30 teams in 30 days.

Last season: With a ton of 3-pointers and all-around brilliance, Curry destroyed the Celtics in the NBA Finals to win the fourth championship of his illustrious career. It was a superb performance from a superstar who, at times in a season in which he established himself as the all-time leader in 3-pointers, was surprisingly inefficient. Curry did, however, win the MVP awards for the All-Star, Western Conference, and Finals. The postseason breakthrough by Andrew Wiggins with impact play on both sides, Jordan Poole’s emergence as a quality option, and Klay Thompson’s welcome return following two years out due to leg injuries were also noteworthy events. Ultimately, as soon as Curry, Thompson, and Draymond Green were whole once more, the Warriors reclaimed their throne.

Unfortunately, nothing happened. Even so, you wished you could have been a fly on the wall in the front office when or if serious internal conversations regarding the possibility took place. Trading Poole and Wiggins, along with possibly James Wiseman and several first-round picks, would have been part of such a deal. You may wonder if the Warriors are genuinely fond of their team and if not, why not? They were the champions; they just might have hesitated a little. Recall that over the past few years, the Warriors have turned down chances to acquire immediate assistance in trades for young players and lottery picks. The owner said they would prefer to hold onto those assets in case they win both now and in the future.
