Adams has previously represented former Indiana basketball player Tijan Jobe in an eligibility challenge involving an additional $2,655.
“Despite the minimal nature of Mr. Adams’ donations, and the fact that the last donation he made was more than 15 years before he provided expenses to a prospective student-athlete who enrolled at the institution,” the NCAA stated in its letter to the institution. “Mr. Adams must be considered a representative of the institution’s athletics interests.”
After taking into account these secondary infractions, the NCAA gave the university credit for implementing “substantial and meaningful” corrective measures. These included severing ties with Adams, paying a $5,000 fine for improperly certifying one participant before to his competition, and distancing the program from Adams.
